WINNIE IN WINTER testo

WINNIE IN WINTER

Winnie the witch looks out of the window of her black house in the forest and shivers. Her garden is covered in snow. “I’m tired of winter” says Winnie.

Wilbur is tired of winter too. His feet are wet and his whiskers are frozen.

Winnie has got an idea. She stops and takes down her big book of spells and reads it carefully.

Then she puts on her woolly coat, her fluffy hat, her snow boots, her gloves, and her scarf. She picks up her magic wand and goes outside with Wilbur.

Winnie closes her eyes and counts to ten, waves her wand five times and shouts ABRACADABRA!!!

Above Winnie’s house the sun shines brightly. The sky is deep blue. All the snow disappears. It isn’t winter at Winnie’s house. It is sunny summer.

Winnie takes off her clothes. She gets her deckchair and goes out in the garden to sit in the sun. “This is lovely” says Winnie. “Summer is much nicer than winter” says Wilbur.

All over the garden, little animals wake up; the flowers wake up and begin to grow.

A great crowd of people run along the road towards Winnie’s house. They take off their coats, their hats, their boots, their gloves, their scarves and sit in the sunshine.

Soon there is no room for Winnie and Wilbur in the garden. They go inside and look out of the window. The noise is horrible. The mess is horrible. Winnie’s lovely summer is horrible.

Winnie is furious. She picks up her magic wand and goes outside. She closes her eyes and counts to ten. She waves her wand five times and shouts ABRACADABRA.

The sun disappears. The blue sky disappears and the snow begins to fall.

The people put on their clothes and go home. The animals go back to bed, to finish their winter sleep. The flowers go back under the ground to wait for spring.

Winnie and Wilbur go back inside. Winnie makes a cup of hot chocolate and toasts a muffin. Wilbur has warm milk.

Then Winnie and Wilbur go to bed and say: “ Winter is lovely too.”
